WINTER OLYMPICS OF MILAN CORTINA 2026

Italy with Milan-Cortina won the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games

The news has arrived: on the evening of June 24, 2019 in Lausanne the International Olympic Committee (IOC), in the figure of President Thomas Bach, announced that Italy with Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo will host the 2026 Winter Olympics, winning with 47 votes to 34 of the members of the International Olympic Committee on the Swedish candidacy of Stockholm-Are. The Italian proposal has been assessed as the most reliable and credible.

A very important news for Italy, which will return to host the Winter Games for the fourth time, after Turin 2006, Rome 1960 and the Cortina edition of 1956.

The Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held from 6 to 22 February 2026

The opening and closing ceremonies will take place at the Meazza stadium in Milan and at the Verona Arena, while all the competitions will take place between Lombardy, Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige.

Milan will be the heart of the Games: the main Olympic Village will be built in the Porta Romana district of the city, a new PalaItalia will be set up in Rogoredo for figure skating and the short track, while all the hockey challenges will take place between the renewed Lampugnano PalaSharp and a new building built in the Santa Giulia district.

But it will not be just Milan: the Stelvio slope, in Bormio, will host the men's Alpine skiing competitions, while the Mottolino, Sitas-Tagliede and Carosello 3000 areas in Livigno have been chosen for the Snowboard and Freestyle competitions.

Livigno will have a very important role, because it will be the site of another Olympic Village that will be used by civil protection and will then be converted into an advanced training center at the end of the Games.

In Santa Caterina it will be possible to watch cross-country skiing competitions, while in Baselga di Piné, in the province of Trento, speed skating competitions will be organized.

The Ice Rink, the main facility for speed skating in Italy, will be equipped with a cover (now outdoors) and about 5,000 seats.

The Olympic games will "touch" many other places: in Tesero, there will be cross-country skiing competitions, in Predazzo the Ski Jump (Nordic Combined), in Anterselva, a municipality in the province of Bolzano, there will be the Biathlon competitions ( masculine and feminine).

Cortina will also have its Olympic Village, which will be set up in the hamlet of Fiames. Not only: it will host the women's Ski on the Olimpia delle Tofane slope, and those of Bob, Sledding and Skeleton, planned on the historic Olympic track Eugenio Monti.

The Olympic Ice Stadium will be renewed for Curling competitions.

Finally, at the Verona Arena, there will be the closing ceremony.

After 20 years the Winter Olympics are back in Italy

It was 2006 when Turin hosted the last Italian Olympic and Paralympic games.

A great event that saw the spotlight of the whole world on Italy and that saw BIEMMEDUE at the forefront as the official supplier for the entire heating of the tensile structures located in the 20 Olympic sites of Turin.

It was an important challenge for the company BIEMMEDUE, World Leader in the field of professional heating (Arcotherm line), industrial cleaning (Arcomat line) and dehumidification (Arcodry line), both on the technical and organizational front: with over 1000 operating hot air generators, production and installation took almost 8 months of hard work, technical tests, tests, ..

In addition to this, one of the most important and delicate phases was the monitoring of every single machine installed, to guarantee athletes and technicians the best pre and post race comfort. Great test therefore for the ARCOTHERM BM2 products, dedicated to professional heating, which proved to be impeccable in terms of functioning and effectiveness in such a large and important event.

BIEMMEDUE, on that occasion, had also been the official sponsor of the Italian national team of two-woman Bob (races culminating with the bronze medal with Gerda Weissensteiner and Jennifer Isacco).

The relationship between the Cherasco company and sport has always been a particularly sensitive topic for the managing director Marco Costamagna, who over the years has taken on different faces, from bob to skiing, from football to car racing.

The history of the Olympics is colored again with blue, or rather with green, white and red!

In the meantime, let's relive the BM2 emotions of 2006
